he students have quickly settled into the new academic year. Year 7 students have had an excellent start both in lessons and around the school. Visiting lessons and walking around the school it is clear that they are well prepared and keen to make the most of the opportunities open to them at Ernulf.
I have been impressed with the maturity exhibited by Year 10 students starting their full Key Stage 4 Programme. Next week parents/carers will receive an information booklet about courses being studied in order to best support their sons/daughters.
Year 11 students have returned with greater focus and purpose showing that they understand that they have a demanding year ahead. I look forward to meeting parents/carers next week at the ‘Welcome to Year 11 Evening’ where we will be talking through the year ahead and how to support them through this in order to achieve at the highest level. In assembly I have shared with them the considerable achievements of the previous Year 11 students. So many students found that they had achieved the grades they hoped for, enabling them to pursue the next stage in their educational journey. The school saw significant improvement in all of the key headings, testament to the hard work of students and staff and the support of parents/carers.
Thursday saw our annual Open Evening for prospective students and parents/carers. This is an exciting time for Ernulf Academy with the transfer to the Astrea Academy Trust from 1st September this academic year. At the beginning of the term Libby Nicholas (CEO) and Benedick Ashmore-Short (Executive Director of Education) welcomed staff to the Astrea family and outlined the Values and Principles which bond all 25 schools within the Trust. We look forward to working closely with our colleagues within the Astrea Trust and know that this will enable Ernulf to continue on its improving journey.
The Astrea Mission “Inspiring Beyond Measure” reflects the approach that an exceptional education is rich and empowering as well as ensuring excellent formal examination success. All schools within Astrea encourage and nurture resilience, empathy, aspiration, contribution and happiness.
The learning experience in its widest sense and outcomes for students remains at the very heart of all that we do.
