Homework at Ernulf Academy
Our approach to Homework is designed to make homework clear, consistent and purposeful. Tasks will focus on developing secure subject knowledge, improving fluency and ensuring knowledge is at the students’ fingertips. At Key Stage 3, this will include knowledge-organiser activities, self-quizzing, comprehension and subject practice. At Key Stage 4, homework will combine fluency and knowledge development with revision and examination-style application.
This structure also helps scholars complete work that genuinely reflects their own understanding. By focusing on recall, practice and the application of knowledge, tasks are less suited to being completed by artificial intelligence on a scholar’s behalf and provide teachers with a more accurate picture of where support may be needed.

Teachers will check and record homework completion regularly. Where a scholar is experiencing difficulty, we would encourage families to contact the school so that we can identify any barriers and offer appropriate support.
For Key Stage 3 enquiries, please contact your child’s form tutor in the first instance. For Key Stage 4 subject-specific enquiries, please contact the relevant Head of Department.
Concerns should only be escalated to the Head of Year or the school’s SLT homework lead where further support is needed.
